About

Kristin Buck was born in Wheat Ridge, Colorado in 1985, and raised in Westminster, Colorado. Photography has been a passion since she was young, and naturally followed her into her colligate career where she enrolled in the Bachelors of Fine Arts program at Metropolitan State University of Denver, graduating in 2014 from MSU Denver with a Bachelors of Fine Art degree with a concentration in Photography. While at MSU Denver she served as Photo Club President and former Vice President, and worked as a volunteer in the Auraria Center for Photography for three semesters. Additionally she was the studio assistant of the Area Coordinator of the Photography Department, Tomiko Jones. During her senior year she was the recipient of the Nagel Art Thesis Award for her work The Ties That Bind.

Investigations of identity, family, history and tradition are themes that permeate her work. While photography is the main focus, she enjoys applying photographic processes to alternate materials, specifically textiles and ceramics. This multi-facetted approach to art making allows her to create images and objects that explore the relationships between the medium and subjects.
