Super Sunday and Mardi Gras Day

In March I got the opportunity to visit New Orleans for the first time. The experience was something that changed my life, and that sounds cliche, but I was not the same person when I returned. While we were there we watched the Mardi Gras parade on what is known as Super Sunday. This isn’t that Mardi Gras that is typically associated with the Crescent City, this parade was more about the history and culture of the Native and African cultures that the city grew out of, and less about booze and beads. I am not much of a street photographer but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture the amazing display of tradition and community.
